Offstage Elements (2019) Synopsis
Five musically talented, middle-aged men, have been in a heavy metal band together for more than ten years. The band, Brass Angel, is fronted by Vik (Michael McFadden), the lead singer and also manager of the band. After battling advanced stage testicular cancer, Vik returns to his bandmates in remission, but this time leaving his previous bad-boy reputation behind. He announces on stage to his long time fans and bandmates that he is completely reformed as a devout Christian. Now Vik faces many opposing views and challenges with, not only his dark and demonic bandmates, but also with his nitty-gritty fans. The band (Brass Angel) finally gets the break they've been waiting for by getting an opening gig for reputable headliner, Grazing Shrapnel, in an iconic Norway festival. But this time Vik has convinced his bandmates to sign on with Christian record label, "He's The Man Records", as a Christian Heavy Metal Band. Although they are reluctant to sign because of their non-religious beliefs, they ultimately get a deal they can't refuse. Vik proves to be a succussful band manager when Brass Angel breaks through the European heavy metal scene and is asked to be the opener for Grazing Shrapnel on a full European tour. Meanwhile, they catch the eye of reputable band manager, Sammy "The Ham" Gallo (featuring Mike Starr), who believes in their music and is invited by Vik to take them further as a band. During this new height of success, each of the bandmates' weaknesses and addictions are revealed, yet struggling to find strength through Vik's religious influence, while still rocking out as a heavy metal band.
