Half White (2020) Synopsis

n the near future where the US has fully embraced xenophobia into its laws, three immigrants, Zorick from Russia, Cameron from Nigeria and Dan Dan from China sneak into the country in order to start better lives.Another immigrant, Avinash, has lived in the US working for an IT company for years before new immigration policies kicked him out due to his race. Broke and about to be deported, Nash meets the man who is replacing him, Billy. Billy has no IT background, but is able to get the job with help from Nash and his own skin color.Nash meets the other immigrants and the group eventually starts helping Billy perform his job, by remotely giving him Software tips. Billy, in turn, houses and pays them.Things go well at first as Billy's boss, ms Davenport, is obsessed with him, even though a few of the more racist coworkers, Dave and Holly, get suspicious.After Billy is tasked with a near impossible project at work, he realizes he needs more help from his friends. They must build a software for a foolproof lie detector. The guys decide the only way to complete the job is in person. Nash, Dan Dan, Cameron and Zorick apply white face, and start to learn American accents to blend in at the office.The first few weeks at the office are crazy. The immigrants try their best to stay hidden and perform their jobs at the same time. They develop a rivalry with Dave and Holly, who vow to catch them in their act.Eventually, everyone at the office goes to a work camping trip, where the risk of getting caught is higher than ever. After trying everything, Dave and holly aren't able to reveal Billy and the immigrants' secret, but a rain storm washes away their makeup and they are caught.The team is fired immediately, but show up the next day to present the completed project to the client. After a powerful presentation, Nash and the others are forgiven, but arrested and set to be deported. Luckily, they are pardoned due to their contributions.
