The global warming theme on a smaller scale.

An independent film about a man from the Arctic who is sent by his elders to the New York City to seek a permanent solution they are facing due to the assault on the nature by the southern people. I have heard it was based on the real, but for the lack of source I can't confirm how much true it is. For the voices over the global warming and considering recently concluded 'climate change conference' in Paris, I thought giving it a try would uplift my spirit on this matter.

Definitely a good idea for a film, a serious theme, even though it did not turn out to be as I hoped for, had a little fun watching it. A short film, not even exceeded the 80 minute mark. Since it was a low profile flick, there's no big casting or the grand spending for making it, but merely an alright film. It was dull in parts due to the stretch, otherwise could have made it a fantastic short film. And a bit it looks like a cross of documentary and feature film in the narration part.

"Life is so full of difficulties. But in my homeland, our sense of family bond us together. Like a warm coat against the cold wind."

What I think about the movie is, it was not bad, as well as brilliant. Very predictable, especially the end went as I expected, that's sad. But a couple of scenes in the entire film were somewhat out of the ordinary. More like it was for the children that deals on the global warming, but for the adults and their matured minds, it kind of fails to convince due to a shortfall of exploration on the subject.

You know it only brought the serious topic on-board, but the intention was not given to explain it, or discuss them. So I feel it missed the great opportunity to open up on the debate and spread the message as what a theme like this supposed to do.

After this I've watched a couple of other movies, but this will be the last review I'm writing on this blog for this year (2015). As a movie fanatic, I had another wonderful year and plenty of excellent films as well as so many bad ones. Finally, I wish all the WCA readers a very happy new year 2016. I'm hoping for another successful year ahead and try to keep the WCA alive utmost.

A decent comedy/drama revolving around the effects of consumerism and the necessity of sustainability.

Chloe & Theo is a film revolving around Theo, an Alaskan man from the Inuit tribe. Inuits are a tribe, whom live off of the frozen land in the arctic, consuming only what Nature provides them (Hunter/Gatherer lifestyle.) He's sent to New York by his tribe, he refers to as "the elders." His message is to warn "the south" as he calls it, of an imminent danger involving the fate of the world. When he arrives to the city, a runaway young lady named Chloe helps protect him from three muggers in an alleyway, and subsequently they become good friends. Chloe is smitten with Theo because of his "innocence and sense of purpose" and therefore makes it her mission to support him on his journey...

Although some details of the film are far-fetched, it does present valid points based in reality. The detriment of consumerism, pollution, and our responsibility to take care of the environment we live in. It's not the most original plot, but the cinematography is entertaining nonetheless. All in all, some scenes might make the viewer laugh, and other scenes might make the viewer cry. Personally, I got emotional during a few scenes. All in all, I enjoyed the film despite the critics ratings, and I think if the viewer keeps an open mind, there is something important to be gained by watching this film.

"The television sets have the real power. They compel you to buy things you do not need, and envy things that are worthless... They mock the way you look, and affect your happiness. What can your leaders do about your nature, when it is so corrupted that when you live each day it's based on consuming, devouring, and wasting? Never happy until there's nothing left. My message should be for my own people: 'We must prepare for the sun's kiss, for it's surely coming sooner than we think." - Theo

A movie to redefine the term Human

Theo is an Eskimo living in the Artic. Sent to New York to deliver a message to the people of the south. That is all I will say about this movie as a resume. However behind a simple story, stand a tragedy. The message Theo brings is simple but also very complex and most of us will miss it and that is the tragedy. It redefine the term Human in the society we are currently living in. This movie will bring you questions, no doubt, that only you will be able to answer on a personal level while on the other hand it concerns all of us and all of us should try to answer theses questions too. The movie is fun to watch, it will bring you laugh, make you think a lots about the meaning of our modern society... the South, it will also bring your tears. So prepare yourself. At the end of this movie I was shredded, there is so much to it, but it was a little bit rushed... It felt like the director run out time to complete the movie. I would have welcome more time to make a smooth transition. A simple story, a gigantic message (will you miss it?), do not miss this one.
